Our Story
Rachel, ziying 劉止盈 is New Zealand born, Chinese artist, currently based in Edinburgh UK.
Rachel created Potterly Studios to be able to express a blend between Korean and Chinese ceramics with her own creative colours and styles. Through her experience learning from Korean ceramicists, both in Sydney and Korea, Rachel draws inspiration from the delicate curves and lines of Korean porcelain as well as the down-to-earth, simple shapes. and sometimes, techniques of onggi to produce work that creates a balance between cutlure and modernity. Her work focuses on traditional shapes and techniques whilst adding on her own colour palate, through glazes, inspired by the everyday environment.
