Ceramic classes

I am a ceramic artist and educator with over seven years of experience in wheel throwing, specialising in porcelain. My practice is particularly influenced by Korean ceramics, developed through training with master potters such as Kwak Kyung Tae, Moon Do Bang, and Yoo Sung. My teaching is enriched by a refined technical skill set in wheel throwing, drawing on techniques from a range of cultural ceramic practices.

Taster sessions (min. 2 people)

This taster wheel-throwing session offers a hands-on introduction to the basic techniques of working with clay on the potter’s wheel. You’ll learn the basic techniques of wheel-throwing. The session is designed to give you a feel for the material and an insight into the wide range of forms and possibilities that wheel-throwing can offer, making it a perfect starting point for anyone curious about clay. Pots will be trimmed, fired and glazed by me and ready for collection after the course.

You'll learn:

  • how to prepare and wedge clay

  • how to using the coning method to centre a lump of clay

  • the process involved in pulling up walls to form a pot

  • how to throw cylinders and different forms
