Fancy giving pottery a go? This 1.5-hour taster session is the perfect introduction to wheel throwing, where you'll learn essential skills like centering clay, opening up, lifting walls, and shaping forms using traditional korean techniques. With 1:1 teaching, you'll receive plenty of guidance to create one or more pieces—perhaps a mug, wine tumbler, jug, or bowl—while overcoming any challenges along the way. A fun and creative experience, perfect for beginners! Fired pottery is incredibly durable and takes thousands of years to decompose, so to encourage mindful firings and reduce waste, we ask students to be intentional about what they choose to keep. If you’d like to take home a finished piece, there is a £15 addition to your lesson to cover the trimming, glazing and firing process (paid in class during the lesson). The glazing and two firings take about 4-6 weeks, after which you’ll be contacted to collect your finished pieces. This helps ensure that each creation is truly valued while promoting a more sustainable approach to ceramics. Reminder that pieces will not be kept unless the addition is paid in full during class.
